The Partnership

The Bro Ddyfi Communities First Partnership, which also acts as the core group for the Local Community Forum, guides the process and uses Powys County Council as the responsible body to hold funds and employ staff on its behalf. In most cases the Partnership will not implement projects itself, choosing to work with local and regional partners to develop and secure funding for prioritised initiatives. The Partnership and its working groups are made up of representatives of relevant organisations as well as individuals from the four wards. The aim is to get local people working together to make Bro Ddyfi a better place to live and work.

Through its thematic groups, the Partnership explores which actions the community can get on with (at times through existing voluntary groups) and which ones can expect to be funded or delivered by outside bodies. The focus is always on those actions that benefit the most disadvantaged people and that build skills and confidence.

The current Bro Ddyfi Action Plan highlights issues identified under the following seven themes: Housing - Transport and Communication -  Education and Training  - Countryside and Environment  -  Economy and Employment - Community Activities  - Health and Community Wellbeing.

Why Join?

The Bro Ddyfi Communities First Coordinator, Cyril Evans said:

"There must be quite a few people in the area that have very strong feelings regarding something that either is, or should be happening in Bro Ddyfi at the moment, but have not previously felt the need to, or perhaps never had the confidence, or indeed been given the opportunity to voice their opinion. Well here is a real opportunity to do something about it, and to make a lasting impact and improvement to this beautiful valley of ours."
