Eight main subject areas have been identified for more intensive exploration.
Three Community events were held during November - at Llanbrynmair Community hall, Machynlleth Community Centre and Cwmllinau Village Hall, with a follow-up event held at the Machynlleth Care Centre on 11th December.
Each group was given 15 minutes at each table to discuss the following questions:
Station A: Imagine it's 2012 and the Communities First programme has helped to create a more flourishing community. What has been done?
Station B: What do you really value about being part of this community? What can we build on to create prosperity and a better quality of life?
Station C: What are the problems in your Town or Village and the Dyfi Valley as a whole? What makes it difficult for some people to live a full life within their own communities?
Some very useful information was collected at these events. These were further discussed and summarised at the follow-up event on the 11th December.
Every problem, view or topic that had come forward at the previous events had been copied onto post-it notes. People from the area that they had originated from first of all placed these into categories or headings of their own choice.
This process led to the following twenty-four identified sub-headings:
Then all three groups of people came together and the information was further summarised and placed into main categories.
The eight main categories that emerged were:
There were about 150 issues or views divided into these categories. Each individual comment will be saved and looked at as the process develops - none of this vital information will be lost. Indeed, it will be constantly added to and used as the consultation process continues. Eventually, the area will present an Action Plan to the National Assembly for Wales Government.
The Dyfi Valley Communities First Partnership, together with the Facilitator Cyril Evans, will now be looking at various ways of further involving as much of the community as possible. This will include identified groups and individuals of all ages, background and gender.
Please feel free to contact Cyril or drop in at Bro Ddyfi. Bro Ddyfi is a Community Enterprise Centre managed by ecodyfi and shared with other community organisations.
