Oldford’s Best Kept Competition was launched on 23rd June at an event held on the Oldford Estate and co-ordinated by Oldford Communities First. The competition is aimed at encouraging the residents of the Oldford Estate to make their community look more colourful.

The categories were: Best Pot or Container, Best Hanging basket or Window Box and Best Garden. Children aged from 4 to 16 years old could enter a pot or container.

There were free plants, pots and compost and a local gardening expert was on hand to give gardening advice and design tips thanks to funding received from the Pride of Powys Awards through the Powys Community Safety Partnership.

The day was a great success with over 100 people of all ages attending and there have been 40 competition entries.

The judging will take place on 1st August and the Assistant Head Gardener of Powis Castle will judge the entries.

There were so many great pots created at the launch event that the judge will have a very difficult time, so good luck to everyone who has entered.
