Action Camp Project 2009

9th Oct 2009

Action Camp Open Day 2009!

Date: 27th Aug

Time: 2pm – 7pm

With the support from Oldford Communities First, Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, Powys County Council and Welshpool Youth Service a group of young people from Welshpool attended a three day Action Camp at Kiln Park in Tenby. Through a variety of activities they learnt about food miles, Fair trade and how to better care for the environment.

We have also had support from partners who have volunteered their time for the project including: Welshpool Baptist Church and Signpost Youth Project.

The Open Day was a huge success with over one hundred visitors. The young people took the lead with all of the activities including the free refreshments. Visitors enjoyed guided tours, pond dipping, face painting, woodwork, a treasure hunt and more.

This has been a spectacular end to a very positive project. On 9th September an Awards evening was held at the Severn Farm Pond nature reserve to celebrate the [projects success. There were over 60 friends and family who came to see certificates awarded to all of the young people who took part in the project.
