Business and CF
Businesses are a vital part of the Powys economy. Powys is characterised as a small business economy, with farming, tourism, the service sector and a plethora of micro businesses and sole traders making a major contribution along with the large public employers. Small businesses can be very entrepreneurial and innovative and this is a strength in Powys. There is therefore a good synergy between the drivers for small businesses and Communities First. The ethos of finding new solutions to long term issues is common to both.
Larger business also have their part to play in helping communities to become skilled in the areas businesses need so that more local people can find worthwhile employment in their home communities.
Business people can therefore make a valuable contribution, of time and experience, to the CF partnerships – helping to focus them on developing the skills employers and local businesses need to tackle problems in a new and innovative ways and helping the different sectors of society to understand and support each other.
